Cisco owns Netgear. Also all routers are easily expandable to create a larger blanket coverage area. You just need "extenders" "repeaters" to increase your coverage area.

I personally prefer the buffalo station routers for home use.

I like linksys WRT routers so i can install dd-wrt or openwrt which is a firmware for routers that offers advanced configuration options and freedom. The more expensive ones have advanced hardware and far range without lag.

I own a D-Link DIR-655 router and I am across the street from my brother's house which is where I connected my D-Link DIR-655 router so it can transmit a signal to me. Where I am is located probably 150-200 feet away, i believe it is pretty far. I get up to 52 Mbps.
