According to Google their new update will give a boost in rankings to websites using HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure).

What do you think about is do we need to switch from HTTP to HTTPS to get increase in Google rankings?

If you use HTTPs doesn't mean your site will automatically land on the first page of Google. Sure they reward those sites with light boost in rankings that by itself ain't enough but when you combine them all you will see a big result.

Google stated that this is a very “light-weight signal” and will only affect less than 1% of global search queries, so it won;t give a huge boost in rankings.

https costs some around $80 bucks a year right and gives tiny SEO improvement so I would rather spend that money on building backlinks or on content which are techniques that will increase website rankings.

It's a very tiny boost in rankings some like website load time. You are not alone your competitors also use HTTPS protocol so you need to get even more creative to beat them.
