Should I tell Google that the content I just published is original and not some scrapped, rewritten one? Or maybe it's smart enough to figure it out on its own? Anyways how this indexing process works?

Is there a way to make sure Google knows that my content is original?
Google will ignore any suggestion or recommendation by the user related to the website SEO. It's smart enough to figure it out on its own. You can't manipulate Google. If someone steals your content you can report it to Google and they will take the necessary actions.
After Google indexes some content it will then compare it with the database containing all indexed web content looking for a match if non found content is original. It's completely automatic process and you can't do anything about it. Make sure you don't create duplicate content your self by displaying such content on different pages.
