Long tail keywords are the lifeline for SEO,

here are the benefits,
-Easier to rank as it's very very specific, eg., Buy Gucci strapped brown handbag in New Jersey with gold pins
-the above example is very unique to the product you have, hence users can find you directly
-it's very easy to rank these keywords with few quality backlinks as it has low search volume
-As it addresses the user's specific needs, users who end up with your link have a very high conversion rate
-Which helps to rank faster for other keywords as your website has low bounce rate cos of high relevancy
-it's very important to rank several long tail keywords, which helps immensely in ranking your primary keywords
-and finally additional quality traffic

Longtail keywords account for around 60% of the search queries and also they are more relevant queries. Hence conversion on long tail keywords are more and competition to rank on those keywords are less

A long tail keyword is a keyword phase of three plus words. Long-tail keywords are used to target demographics rather than mass audiences. It is more specific & often less competitive, so it provides short-term and long-term benefits. Many studies suggest that long tail keywords are easier to rank for, bring in more combined traffic towards the website, and convert more visitors to customers, as compared to the keywords.

Highly specific multi-word phrases tend to be far much easier to rank well for than the more generic single keyword or double keyword phrases.

Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. Short tail keywords are search phrases with only one or words.

Long-tail keywords are the keyword phrases that are comparatively longer and specific than normal search keywords. It brings less traffic to your website, however, increases your conversion rates ultimately. With long-tail keywords, it gets easier to boost your organic rankings in the SERPs. Even if these keywords are less searched for but the visitors who search for them are more likely to purchase your product or services.

Long tail keywords are useful because:
1. 60-70% of actual searches are long tail keywords. For example, people don't search for shoes. Tey search for long tail keywords such as 'nike shoes for men'
2. They are specific so people who use long tail keywords clearly know what they're looking for. It means that if someone visits your site using a long tail keyword, they'll very likely buy your product.
3. They have less competition and so you can rank easily for long tail keywords.
4. Although long-tail keywords have less search volume than short tail keywords, if you target 3-4 long tail keywords on a page, their combined search volume is more than that for short tail keyword
