I am working on my website backlinks and I am a bit confused because I am presented with two choices:

Backlinks

I am not the expert but I can tell that what matters in SEO is the amount of domain names linking back to your site! There is no point of heaving 1000 backlinks from one website what matters is how many websites have a backlink to yours. It's enough to have one back-link per site/domain!

A backlink is a link from another site where you link your site from.
A referring domain is where your links come from.
