What do you recommend create a responsive theme of my website or use separately mobile friendly and desktop themes?

It really depends on the type of website you have. Some websites like "affiliate landing pages" simply use too complicated HTML code to be supported by the responsive theme and it's best to create a separate mobile version.

But if your web-site or a blog only has text content then you it's best to use responsive design.

Responsive is a huge effort and few sites really pull it off to a point where it makes sense. Instead most use boxed templates or bootstrap which makes it all look the same with the buttons.

In this case I would like to say that Responsive website design is better. Now Google is also providing more benefits to responsive websites.
