Is it possible to know or check how much traffic a specific website receives?

Yes, you can check estimated website traffic and earnings, but don't think it a very accurate report! Try Aexa.com and websitetrafficspy.com

Alexa generates pretty accurate website traffic reports. But it's extremely difficult to exactly do that even with Google analytics, because all these tracking services rely on JavaScript code but the majority of search engine crawlers don't use JavaScript, and many people have JavaScript disabled too. So if you have JavaScript disabled you won't get picked up as a visitor.

Not all analytics use JS as the only means to track. While JS is the main means to get all the good details you can still get lots of information from a visitor firing off a pixel. And GA is from from the only free option out there.

GA is not your only option for free amazing analytics. Heck even the managed analytics are cheap monthly and they offer a non JS tracker as well.

Google is not the answer for everything people. There is more in the world than what google is trying to rule and run.

But if you actually read into the GA DOCs about the tracking methods, you can also setup a non JS pixel that works for GA. Please make sure you read your DOCs people! Though the method for non JS tracking is a pain to setup and run it is doable. But there are better options I think, to me the only reason you should use GA and it should NOT be your analytics is if you use AdWords and or AdSense. But GA should never be your only analytics.
