Reading articles on forums about SEO tricks many times I came across "hidden text and links". Could you please explain how does it suppose to improve search engine optimization and how to create them?

This is what Google says abut it:

Quote:Hiding text or links in your content to manipulate Google’s search rankings can be seen as deceptive and is a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Text (such as excessive keywords) can be hidden in several ways, including:

Using white text on a white background
Locating text behind an image
Using CSS to position text off-screen
Setting the font size to 0
Hiding a link by only linking one small character—for example, a hyphen in the middle of a paragraph

Learn more about it here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/an...6353?hl=en

Don't even think about using any of them. Many Black Hat SEO techniques recommend this but I can tell you it will get you in really deep sh*t.

Hidden text is textual content which your visitors cannot see, but which is still readable by the search engines. The idea is to load a Web page with keywords and keyword phrases that would be unsightly to visitors but that would improve the page's rankings in the search engine results, and to do so without letting your visitors see the text. Hidden text is identified as search spam by each of the major search engines.

More Info : Black hat buddies use hidden scripts(links and texts) for posting on third party Word Press sites by SQL Injection.

Remember its purely Google's hated technique - An old technique.

No, Still some guys are doing this for to show the keyword density only to the search engines for improving their search results.

But the technique is older - Google can easily identify you when you did much.
